For Time
A fixed amount of work completed as fast as you safely can — your time is your score.
What it means in a class
'For time' means the work is fixed and the clock is open. You complete every rep listed and your finishing time is your score. Coaches usually set a time cap so the class stays together; if you hit the cap you record where you got to.
The trap with 'for time' workouts is going too hard in the first two minutes. We'd rather you break the reps up sensibly from the start and finish strong than blow up and spend the back half staring at the barbell.
