WOD

Workout of the Day

The workout everyone in the gym is doing that day, written up on the whiteboard.

What it means in a class

WOD simply means Workout of the Day. It's the main conditioning piece of a class — the part that comes after the warm-up, skill work or strength work. Everyone in that session does the same WOD, scaled to their own ability.

Our WODs are programmed in advance so the week balances out: heavy days, fast days, long grinds and short sprints, plus a mix of gymnastics, weightlifting and machine work. You don't have to plan anything — turn up and the day's work is on the board.

You'll hear people ask 'what's the WOD today?' It's just shorthand. Nothing about it is exclusive, and there is always a scaled version.

On the whiteboard

"Today's WOD is a 15-minute AMRAP."
