AMRAP

As Many Rounds (or Reps) As Possible

A workout where you complete as many rounds or reps as you can inside a set time.

What it means in a class

AMRAP stands for As Many Rounds As Possible — or As Many Reps As Possible when the workout is a single movement. The clock is fixed, the work is open-ended: you repeat the listed movements in order until the timer runs out, and your score is how many full rounds plus extra reps you managed.

AMRAPs are a favourite in class because they self-scale beautifully. Everyone starts and finishes together, and everyone works at a pace that suits them. A newer member might get four rounds where a long-standing member gets nine — both did the same workout, both worked hard.

The coaching cue we give most often for an AMRAP is 'pick a pace you can hold'. It's not a sprint. Steady, unbroken sets almost always beat going out hot and stalling with six minutes still on the clock.
