Ladder
A rep scheme that climbs or descends, such as 1-2-3-4-5 or 21-15-9.
What it means in a class
A ladder is a workout where the reps change each round — going up (1, 2, 3, 4, 5...), down (21, 15, 9) or both. Ascending ladders start deceptively easy and get ugly; descending ladders feel relentless early and reward you at the end.
Weight ladders exist too, where the load increases each round instead of the reps.
On the whiteboard
Ascending ladder: 1 clean, 1 pull-up, then 2 and 2, then 3 and 3, until the cap.
