Metcon
Metabolic Conditioning
Conditioning work that raises your heart rate and builds engine, stamina and work capacity.
What it means in a class
Metcon is short for metabolic conditioning — training that challenges your body's energy systems. In practice, it's the sweaty part: rowing, biking, running, skipping, burpees, kettlebells and light-to-moderate barbell work strung together.
Metcons can be short and brutal (three minutes flat out) or long and steady (twenty-plus minutes). Both are useful, which is why our programming rotates through them across the week.
